About
Lewis Webb is Departmental Lecturer in Roman History at Merton College, University of Oxford. His research recovers marginalized voices in Roman history through interdisciplinary approaches combining archaeology, epigraphy, and critical theory.
Research investigates three primary domains: status competition among senatorial women, civic religion during Republic crises, and Roman-nonRoman interactions in ancient Etruria. Fieldwork includes archaeological projects at Vulci (Italy) and Palamas (Greece).
Publications analyze female political agency in Republican Rome, gender dimensions of triumphal rituals, and methodological approaches to diversifying historical narratives. Current Swedish Research Council project examines religious responses to community crises in Republican Rome.
