Lewis R. Roberts

Lewis R. Roberts is a Professor of Medicine and Director of the Hepatobiliary Cancer SPORE at Mayo Clinic, Rochester, Minnesota. He holds the Peter and Frances Georgeson Professorship in Gastroenterology Cancer Research and serves as Associate Chair for Equity, Inclusion, and Diversity in the Division of Gastroenterology and Hepatology. His primary affiliation is with the Department of Internal Medicine’s Division of Gastroenterology and Hepatology.

Education:

• M.B., Ch.B. (Medical Degree), University of Ghana Medical School
• Ph.D. in Physiology and Biophysics, University of Iowa
• Fellowship in Gastroenterology, Mayo Clinic

Research Interests:

• Mechanisms of liver and biliary cancer development, early detection, and targeted therapies
• Genetic risk factors and viral hepatitis-associated cancers
• Global health initiatives in sub-Saharan Africa, focusing on healthcare disparities and liver disease prevention
