Levi Sonia Maria Rosa is a Full Professor of Applied Biology at the Faculty of Medicine and Surgery, Vita-Salute San Raffaele University, and Head of the Iron Metabolism Proteomics Unit at San Raffaele Hospital. She earned her degree in Biological Sciences from the University of Milan in 1982 and has held leadership roles in research and academia, including directing the Proteomics of Iron Metabolism unit since 2003. Her research focuses on iron metabolism proteins, mitochondrial ferritin, and neurodegenerative diseases linked to iron dysregulation. She has authored over 120 peer-reviewed articles and holds patents in the field.
Her teaching roles include coordinating laboratory courses in Medical and Pharmaceutical Biotechnology and contributing to the Dentistry program's Biology and Genetics curriculum. She has supervised numerous thesis projects and serves on academic committees, including the Quality Assurance Committee of UniSR.
Dr. Levi has received prestigious awards such as the Top Italian Woman Scientist Award (2016) and has organized international conferences on iron metabolism. Her work bridges clinical and experimental research, with a focus on developing cellular models for neurodegenerative diseases and iron-related disorders.
