Lev Reyzin

Lev Reyzin is a Professor of Mathematics, Statistics, and Computer Science at the University of Illinois Chicago and serves as Director of the IDEAL Institute. His research focuses on the theory of machine learning, data science, and artificial intelligence.

Education:

• Bachelor's degree from Princeton University
• Ph.D. from Yale University under Dana Angluin, supported by an NSF doctoral fellowship

Research Interests: Lev's work spans theoretical computer science, computational learning theory, and algorithm design, with applications in artificial intelligence and data science. His research explores foundational aspects of machine learning, including its intersection with statistics and computer science.

Grants and Funding: His research has received extensive support, including multiple NSF grants (CCF-1934915, CCF-1848966, IIS-1526379) and funding from DOD ERTC and ARO. Additionally, he serves as Principal Investigator (PI) on several projects.

Leadership Roles: Lev is currently the Chair of the Steering Committee for the Algorithmic Learning Theory (ALT) conference and Editor-in-Chief of Mathematics of Data, Learning, and Intelligence. He has held organizational positions at FOCS 2024 (General Chair), ISAIM 2020 (Program Chair), and ALT 2017 (Program Chair).
