Lesly Temesvari is an Alumni Professor and Associate Chair for Research and Operations at the Department of Biological Sciences, College of Science, Clemson University. She holds a Ph.D. in Biological Sciences from the University of Windsor (1993) and a B.S. in Microbiology and Immunology from McGill University (1987). Her research focuses on molecular mechanisms regulating virulence in pathogenic amoebae, including Entamoeba histolytica (causing amoebic dysentery and liver abscess) and Acanthamoeba castellanii (causing keratitis), with emphasis on parasite-host interactions, stress response, vesicle trafficking, lipid rafts, and drug-repurposing strategies.
