Leslie Cook is an Associate Professor of Theatre at Winthrop University's College of Visual and Performing Arts. She holds an M.F.A. in Costume Design from Virginia Tech University and a B.A. from St. Mary's College of Maryland. Previously, she taught at Longwood University in Virginia.
Her research focuses on costumes of the condemned, analyzing clothing choices as expressions of identity in extreme circumstances. She has designed professionally for theaters like Firehouse Theatre and Wolf Trap Opera, and for National Geographic Television.
A dedicated educator, she believes in student-centered teaching: My own success can only be achieved by theirs; by supporting them as people, enriching their present, helping them understand their past, and preparing them for their future.
