Leonard Green

Leonard Green is Professor of Psychological & Brain Sciences and Economics at Washington University, where he also directs Undergraduate Studies. His research focuses on decision-making processes, including delay/probability discounting, self-control behaviors, and behavioral economic modeling.

He co-developed behavioral economics as an interdisciplinary field bridging psychology and economics. Current work examines age differences in discounting, pandemic-related decision-making, and neuroeconomic correlates of impulsive choices.

Recipient of the 2022 Emerson Excellence in Teaching Award, he teaches courses on learning theory and applied behavior analysis. His experimental work spans human and animal models, revealing cross-species principles of choice behavior.
