Leo C. Zulu

Leo C. Zulu is a Professor in the Department of Geography, Environment, and Spatial Sciences at the College of Social Science, Michigan State University. He serves as Director of the African Studies Center and is an Affiliated Faculty member of the Center for African Studies.

His research focuses on critical environmental and societal intersections in Africa, with emphasis on:

• Political ecology examining power dynamics in environmental governance
• Community-based natural resource management systems in rural African contexts
• Deforestation drivers and food security implications
• Spatiotemporal analysis of land use/land cover change using geospatial technologies
• Vulnerability and adaptation strategies for climate change impacts in southern Africa
• Integration of Remote Sensing and GIS methodologies for environmental monitoring
