Lenore Fahrig

Lenore Fahrig is Chancellor's Professor and Gray Merriam Chair in Landscape Ecology at Carleton University. She holds a BSc from Queen's University, MSc from Carleton University, and PhD from University of Toronto.

Her research examines landscape structure effects on organism abundance, distribution, and persistence, with particular emphasis on road ecology impacts on wildlife populations. Key research questions include minimum habitat requirements, fragmentation effects, agricultural landscape optimization, and connectivity's role in population persistence.

Her extensive publication record focuses on biodiversity conservation in human-modified landscapes, with recent work addressing fragmentation debates, species distribution shifts under climate change, and conservation area design principles. She maintains an active research laboratory investigating these themes.
