Lennart Mårtensson

Lennart Mårtensson is a full-time Professor of Environmental Engineering at the Faculty of Natural Science, Högskolan Kristianstad. He is affiliated with the Sustainable Multifunctional Landscapes (SMULA) research group and Centrum för Mat Hälsa och Handel, focusing on interdisciplinary environmental challenges across wastewater treatment, sustainable agriculture, and human-environment interactions.

His research spans:

• Biomass utilization from conservation areas
• Pharmaceutical contamination in aquatic environments
• Sustainable food systems through insect-based ingredients

His 40+ year publication record demonstrates continuous innovation in leachate treatment technologies, analytical chemistry, and environmental risk assessment, with recent work focusing on constructed wetlands for brownification mitigation and sensory analysis of plant scents. He also contributes to educational reforms in sustainability pedagogy.
