Leendert Looijenga

Leendert Looijenga is a Professor of Translational Patho-Oncology at Erasmus MC, Rotterdam, and a Professor of Translational Germ Cell Oncology and Escapeability at UMC Utrecht since 2023. He serves as Groupleader and Managing Director Research at the Princess Máxima Center for Pediatric Oncology (2018–present), focusing on improving diagnosis and treatment for pediatric, adolescent, and young adult germ cell tumor (GCT) patients to enhance long-term quality of life.

His work spans Translational Patho-Oncology, Germ Cell Tumors (GCTs), and Pediatric Oncology, with a focus on molecular cancer biology, survivorship, and immune/cellular therapies. He integrates Regenerative Medicine and Stem Cell Research into pediatric oncology frameworks, emphasizing Child Health and Adolescent Oncology.

Leadership and Collaborations:
He is actively involved in the Testicular Cancer Foundation (since 1996) and leads strategic programs at the Princes Máxima Center, including Cancer Prevention and Prediction, Personalized Medicine, and Survivorship and Palliation. His recent affiliation with UMC Utrecht expands his research into germ cell oncology and escapeability mechanisms.
