About
Professor Lee Rollins is a faculty member at the School of Biological, Earth & Environmental Sciences at the University of New South Wales (UNSW). He serves as Director of the Evolution & Ecology Research Centre and Deputy President of UNSW's Academic Board. Holding a PhD in Conservation Genetics (2009) and a Master of Marine Science (2001) from UNSW, with a Bachelor of Arts (1987) from the University of Virginia, his research focuses on genetic and epigenetic mechanisms driving rapid evolution in invasive species like cane toads, starlings, and deer, while also addressing conservation genetics challenges.
- Key Research Themes: Invasion genetics, epigenetic adaptation, host-parasite interactions, genomic tools for conservation, and population structure analysis
- Supervision: Jointly mentoring PhD candidates on topics spanning invasive stick insects, rusa deer, cane toad genomics, lungworm infections, and little penguin conservation
- Publications (2024-2025): 10 recent works explore genome assembly, parasite effects, transcontinental invasions, and epigenetic responses in invasive species
