Lee Oser

Lee Oser is a Professor of English at the College of the Holy Cross. Born in 1958 with Irish Catholic and Russian Jewish heritage, he earned his B.A. from Reed College and Ph.D. in English from Yale University in 1995. His academic career focuses on literary modernism, T.S. Eliot, and Shakespearean studies. He has published three literary criticism books and three novels, including Oregon Confetti, recognized by Commonweal Magazine in 2017. Active in Catholic community life, he serves as an extraordinary minister at Saint Paul's Cathedral. His research bridges religion and literature, emphasizing Christian humanism in works like Christian humanism in Shakespeare (2022) and Free Will in Hamlet? (2018). Recent scholarship includes explorations of Eliot’s legacy and Shakespeare’s private life.
