Lee Moerman

Lee Moerman is a Professor at the School of Business within the Faculty of Business and Law at the University of Wollongong. His research focuses on social and environmental accounting, examining how accounting practices shape accountability in socio-political and economic contexts. Notably, he has investigated the asbestos industry's legacy and the death-care industry, producing impactful work on casualisation and funeral cost transparency. Moerman holds non-academic roles as Director of the IRT Group and has served on its Audit and Risk Committee.

His research interests include accountability frameworks, corporate social responsibility, and interdisciplinary approaches to accounting's societal impact. Awards include the ACSEAR Hall of Fame Award (2019) and a University of Wollongong Impact Story commendation (2019). He actively supervises PhD candidates exploring topics like human rights accountability in construction, sustainability in the chocolate industry, and organizational change in the tattoo industry.

Moerman has secured internal grants, such as the 2023 Targeted Researcher Support Grant from UOW, and contributed to institutional governance through roles like UOW Academic Senate membership.
