Lee Hecker serves as a Part-time Lecturer at the University of Maine's School of Biology and Ecology, teaching courses in Vertebrate Biology (BIO 329/339), Explorations in Biology (BIO 100), and Wildlife Ecology (WLE 470).
His research applies spatial analysis techniques to ecological questions, particularly focusing on:

- Comparative nutrition ecology of bison subspecies
