Lee Gilman

Dr. Lee Gilman (they/them) is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Psychological Sciences at Kent State University's College of Arts and Sciences. Their research focuses on understanding how unhealthy diets, environmental stressors, and genetic factors interact to promote maladaptive behavioral changes linked to psychiatric disorders and metabolic diseases.

Research in the Gilman Lab investigates diet- and stress-modulated neuroactive hormones and neuroinflammation, alongside genetic differences in dopaminergic signaling, to determine their roles in perpetuating pathophysiological processes affecting food consumption, anxiety, and stress responses. They prioritize inclusivity, diversity, equity, and accessibility (IDEA) in neuroscience and STEAM fields.
