Dr. Leandra Bias is a Research Fellow at the Institute of Political Science, University of Bern, and affiliated with ZOiS in Berlin. Her research focuses on gender’s interaction with (de-)democratization, anti-feminist backlash, and transnational feminist strategies. She holds a DPhil from the University of Oxford and has held visiting fellowships at institutions in Serbia, Russia, and Switzerland. Her work explores authoritarian regimes’ use of 'traditional values' narratives and feminist resistance in post-communist contexts. She co-leads the Horizon Europe project UNTWIST, addressing anti-feminist political strategies, and has been recognized with awards including the ECPR Joni Lovenduski Prize and the Walter Benjamin Kolleg Young Scholar Award. Her research bridges academia and policy, with contributions to feminist foreign policy and peacebuilding initiatives.
