Leah M. Rouse is an Associate Professor of Educational Psychology at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee's School of Education. A board-certified Counseling Psychologist, she specializes in trauma psychology, suicidology, and culturally responsive mental health interventions for law enforcement, veterans, American Indian communities, and cancer survivors. She holds a Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology from UW-Madison and an ACT Leadership coaching certification.
Rouse coordinates the Trauma-Informed Care Graduate Certificate and the School Counseling Master’s Program. Her research emphasizes culturally tailored interventions, demonstrated in clinical trials for smoking cessation and studies on law enforcement suicide. Awards include multiple UWM Distinguished Public Service Awards (2014, 2020) and recognition as a Mayo Clinic Spirit of E.A.G.L.E.S. Fellow. Her professional background includes service as a police officer in Milwaukee and Wisconsin Capitol Police.
