Lea Ypi

Lea Ypi is Professor in Political Theory at the London School of Economics and Political Science, with affiliations at the Australian National University, Canberra. Her work bridges Kantian philosophy, global justice, and critical political theory.

Ypi's research focuses on territorial justice, developing a cosmopolitan theory that interrogates state sovereignty, resource control, and migration rights. Her work synthesizes Kantian external freedom with contemporary debates on colonialism, structural injustice, and avant-garde political agency.

Her recent publications analyze themes like epistemic opacity in oppression, partisan commitment, and Kant’s colonial legacy. She is currently finalizing a book titled Territorial Justice: A Cosmopolitan Account.

As a Permanent Fellow at Wikotheque, Ypi has participated in workshops on Rosa Luxemburg's political philosophy, ethics and economics, and structural injustice. Her scholarship integrates historical and critical perspectives to challenge liberal theories of territorial rights.
