Layne Morsch

Dr. Layne Morsch is a Professor and the Associate Provost for Faculty Affairs at the University of Illinois Springfield. He leads initiatives in generative AI, online learning, digital accessibility, and workforce-aligned education, overseeing the Office of Online, Professional, and Engaged Learning (OPEL).

• Education: B.S. in Chemistry from Minnesota State University Mankato; Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry from the University of Illinois Chicago

Dr. Morsch’s research focuses on online collaborative learning in organic chemistry, emphasizing student engagement, multimodal communication, and educational technology. He has pioneered projects in cheminformatics, multimedia OER, and international collaborations to enhance chemistry education.
