Lawrence Olson

Lawrence Olson is a Professor of Theology and Graduate Faculty member at Martin Luther College (New Ulm, MN). He serves as Director of the Staff Ministry Program and Congregational Assistant Program, alongside roles in church governance and as an Assistant Football Coach. His educational background includes a DMin in Practical Theology from Fuller Theological Seminary, STM in Exegetical Theology, and MDiv in Pastoral Ministry from Wisconsin Lutheran Seminary.

Research interests focus on congregational ministry, inactive members, global missions (India/Hong Kong), and comparative religion (Buddhism, Islam, Judaism). He previously served as a parish pastor from 1983-1993 and held leadership roles in WELS boards and national conventions.

Professional service includes roles on the WELS Commission on Youth Discipleship and National Board of Christian Life Resources. His doctoral work addressed strategies for re-engaging inactive church members.
