Laurie Petrou

Dr. Laurie Petrou is an Associate Professor in the Media Production program at RTA School of Media, Toronto Metropolitan University. She is an award-winning author with a focus on contemporary adult fiction featuring complex female characters, blending her expertise in creative writing, media production, and digital art.

Education:

• BFA from Queen’s University
• MA from Toronto Metropolitan University
• PhD from Toronto Metropolitan University and York University

Her research and creative practice center on developing narrative structures that explore female identity and relationships, with works appearing in notable publications such as CBC Books, The Globe and Mail, and Kirkus Reviews. She also contributes to literary mentorship and education through teaching roles.
