About
Laurent Groc is a CNRS Research Director (1st class) at the University of Bordeaux, affiliated with the Interdisciplinary Institute for Neuroscience (IINS) and Bordeaux Neurocampus. His research spans synaptic maturation, neurotransmitter receptor trafficking, and neurodevelopmental disorders using electrophysiology and single-molecule imaging.
- PhD in Neurosciences (Wayne State University & University of Lyon)
- Habilitation to Direct Research (University of Bordeaux)
Research interests focus on synaptic plasticity mechanisms, NMDA receptor dynamics, and nanoscale imaging in neuroscience. His work also explores psychosis and neurodevelopmental disorders through receptor trafficking and autoantibody interactions.
His recent publications highlight synaptic receptor organization, glutamate transporter diffusion, and nanoparticle-based imaging techniques. Key subfields include neurochemical dynamics, mental health, and neurobiological mechanisms.
Awards include the CNRS Excellence Award (2016, 2013, 2009), TOR Award (2017), and HFSP Award (2016). He has held editorial roles at journals including PLoS One and BMC Neuroscience and coordinated neuroscience training programs.
Groc leads the CNRS UMR5297 team and contributes to institutional governance through roles at the French Research Funding Agency and Bordeaux university council.
