About
Laurent Coscoy is a Professor of Immunology and Molecular Medicine at the University of California, Berkeley, affiliated with the Department of Molecular and Cell Biology. His research focuses on understanding herpesvirus immune evasion mechanisms, particularly Kaposi's Sarcoma-associated Herpesvirus (KSHV) and Human Herpesvirus 6 (HHV6).
Research Interests:
- Molecular mechanisms of viral immune evasion
- Herpesvirus pathogenesis and latency
- Host cell signaling and innate immunity
Key Projects:
- MIR protein-mediated downregulation of MHC-I and other cell surface molecules
- Epigenetic regulation during KSHV latency
- Cellular requirements for contact-dependent KSHV infection
- Induction of NKG2D ligands in infected cells
Labs & Teams: Coscoy Lab at UC Berkeley, collaborating with the Raulet Lab on innate immune sensing mechanisms.
