Lauren Comito is a Brooklyn-based visual artist and part-time Lecturer at The New School and Pratt Institute. She holds an MFA in Painting from the Rhode Island School of Design and a BFA in Art History and Painting from Tyler School of Art. Comito is the founder and president of The Goldey House, an artist-led initiative in upstate New York focused on ecofeminism and community-building through collaborative retreats for artists, educators, and scientists.
Her work has been exhibited widely, including at Equity Gallery, Field of Play Gallery, PS1, Shrine Gallery, and others. Recent exhibitions include Gritty Rituals (2023) and Vagabond Shoes (2023). She has also published a limited printed edition with Eminence Grise Editions, showcased at international art fairs.
Comito’s practice intersects visual art with pedagogy and community engagement. Her teaching spans drawing/imaging courses at Parsons School of Design and Pratt Institute, alongside visiting artist roles at Rutgers University, Pace University, and others. The Goldey House reflects her commitment to interdisciplinary collaboration and environmental advocacy.
