Laurel Albin is an Assistant Teaching Professor and Program Director of Bar Success at the UMass School of Law, University of Massachusetts Dartmouth. She holds a JD Summa Cum Laude from the University of Baltimore School of Law (1997) and is licensed to practice law in Maryland. Her career includes judicial clerkships with the Honorable John Eldridge (Court of Appeals of Maryland) and Honorable Susan Gauvey (U.S. Magistrate for Maryland’s District). She practiced law in Maryland specializing in civil/criminal appeals, civil litigation, and criminal defense, with roles as a public defender and Director of Government Affairs. Previously, she directed the Fiscal Policy Center at the National Juvenile Justice Network, led the Public Safety Performance Project at the Pew Charitable Trust, and served as State Director for Senator Barbara Mikulski. Since 2000, she has taught legal skills at the University of Baltimore, earning the Writing Professor of the Year award.
