About
Laura Widger is the Assistant Head of Department (Education) at the School of Education and Lifelong Learning, South East Technological University (SETU). She oversees academic programs, research activities, and external engagement alongside the Head of School. Her expertise spans Technology-Enhanced Learning (TEL), digital learning design, and micro-credentials in higher education. She has managed large-scale projects funded by the Higher Education Authority, National Forum for Teaching and Learning, and EU Erasmus+ programs.

- Bachelor of Science in Commercial Software Development (WIT)
- Masters in Science (by research) focusing on reusable computer-based assessments
- Pursuing Doctorate in Education at UCL Institute of Education
Research Interests: Laura’s work focuses on digital learning integration in curricula, quality management of educational initiatives, and policy frameworks for micro-credentials. She co-founded the WIT TEL Community of Practice and led the implementation of Moodle VLE and the WIT Centre for TEL.
Collaborations & Activities: Laura co-chaired national ILTA conferences and contributed to EU-funded research on micro-credentials. She organized the 2023 Education Research Doctoral Series and visited the University of Maribor in 2016.
Labs/Teams: Active in the WIT Centre for Technology Enhanced Learning (CTEL) and collaborates with EU institutions on strategic educational projects.
