Dr. Laura Walton-Williams is an Associate Professor and Director of Enterprise Education in the Forensic and Crime Science Department at Staffordshire University, where she has been a lecturer since 2004. She specializes in research-informed teaching, work-based learning, and consultancy for biological evidence examination. She holds an MSc in Forensic Science from Kings College London, Postgraduate Certificates in Higher Education and Research Methods from Staffordshire University, and a BSc in Applied Genetics from the University of Liverpool. She is currently completing a PhD at Staffordshire University focused on DNA retrieval from cartridge cases.
Her research explores:
- DNA/RNA analysis techniques
- Body fluid source determination and aging
- Secondary DNA transfer mechanisms
- Forensic undersuit development for contamination control
- Wildlife crime forensics
- Impact of placements on student performance
She leads an EU-funded initiative developing forensic science capacity in Southern Africa and the Caribbean, and delivers specialized training for UK and Mauritian police forces. Honors include Fellowship of the Higher Education Academy.
