Laura Thompson

Laura Thompson serves as a Mental Health Consultant for SIT Study Abroad programs and holds licensure as a Professional Counselor (LPC). She earned her PhD in Counseling and Counselor Education from Syracuse University, where she also completed a certificate in Addiction Studies, and holds a master's degree from the University of Nevada, Reno.

Her expertise focuses on providing mental health support in international education contexts and developing cross-cultural counseling frameworks. Her research examines mental health challenges in study abroad environments and addiction intervention strategies. She has extensive experience working with students in diverse cultural settings across Europe and has served as a counselor on multiple Semester at Sea voyages.

Thompson co-founded P3 Mental Health Advisors and teaches graduate counseling courses, bridging clinical practice with academic instruction.
