Laura Summerhill

Dr. Laura Summerhill is a Teaching Professor at Texas State University's School of Social Work within the College of Applied Arts. She joined the university in 2004, holding a DSW from New York University, MSW from Columbia University, MS Ed from Bank Street College of Education, and BSW from Florida State University. Her clinical expertise spans corporate settings, correctional facilities, foster care, and adoption agencies.

Her research focuses on clinical social work interventions, neurodiversity accommodations, learning difference strategies, anxiety management, adoption-related clinical issues, and integrating spirituality into social work practice. She maintains an active private practice alongside her academic role.

Dr. Summerhill volunteers with the Women's Storybook Project of Texas, facilitating story recordings for children of incarcerated mothers. She regularly conducts community workshops on neurodiversity and mental health topics.
