Laura Simpson Reeves

Dr. Laura Simpson Reeves is a Research Fellow at the School of Nursing, Midwifery and Social Work and affiliated with the Life Course Centre at The University of Queensland. A qualitative social researcher, she focuses on lived experiences of vulnerability, marginalization, and cultural responses to disadvantage.

• Research Interests: Diaspora, identity, child protection, visual research methods, multiculturalism, and social cohesion.
• Publications: 35+ works centered on social equity, including 16 journal articles in 2025–2013, with recent emphasis on child welfare (2025), diaspora responsibility (2023), and media representations of homelessness (2022).
• Education: PhD (2024), Master of Communication (UQ), and Master of Policy and Applied Social Research (Macquarie University).
• Supervision: Available for postgraduate supervision.

Funding: Recipient of the 2024–2025 Child and Youth Policy Priorities grant via Queensland Council of Social Services.
