Laura Roth

Laura Roth is a Professor at Pompeu Fabra University and the Open University of Catalonia, and currently holds a postdoctoral research position at IGOP (Institut de Govern i Polítiques Publiques) at the Autonomous University of Barcelona. Her work focuses on democratic theory, feminism, political culture, institutional design, and social movements, with a particular emphasis on radical municipalism and feminist political strategies.

Key projects include "The Politics of Radical Municipalism", examining global municipalist movements, and previous work on communalism as democratic repertoire at Radboud University. She has advised institutions like the European Union, Barcelona City Council, and the Rosa Luxemburg Foundation. Her research bridges theory and practice, analyzing how local governance innovations can democratize public services and challenge top-down power structures.

Publications explore radical municipalism’s theoretical foundations, feminist approaches to politics, and urban crisis responses. Notable works include "Politicising Proximity" (2023) and "Emancipation from the Bottom-Up" (2021). She actively collaborates with transnational urban networks and has developed participatory tools for municipalities.
