Professor Laura Rodman Huaracha is a faculty member in the Department of Communication and Digital Media at Carthage College, located in Kenosha, Wisconsin. She holds a Professor rank and teaches courses including Photographing Nature in Costa Rica, which combines environmental education with digital photography. Her office is in Johnson Arts Center 215.
Education: B.A. in Journalism and Mass Communication from Creighton University (1997), followed by an M.F.A. in Graphic Design from Savannah College of Art and Design (1999). Prior to Carthage, she worked as an adjunct instructor at the International Academy of Design and Technology in Chicago and as a graphic designer for companies like The Grand Group and Potbelly Sandwich Works.
Research focuses on using visual media to promote environmental conservation and non-profit advocacy, such as collaborations with the Shalom Center and United Way of Kenosha County. She emphasizes socially responsible design and hosts annual student trips to Costa Rica to document biodiversity.
