Laura Ramirez

Laura Ramirez is an Associate Professor of Practice and holds multiple roles at The University of Kansas School of Social Welfare, including Director of Strategic Initiatives, Liaison to Native Communities, and Impact Advisor. She is also a Faculty Affiliate at the Toni Johnson Center for Racial and Social Justice. Her work focuses on Indigenous and Latinx communities, emphasizing culturally grounded social work practice, diversity, equity, and inclusion in education.

Education: MSW from the University of Kansas.

Research interests include culturally adapted interventions for oppressed populations, racial equity in social work education, and policy advocacy for marginalized communities. Her recent publications explore Indigenous caregivers' experiences through poetic inquiry and culturally responsive evaluation strategies.

She advises Native students at the School of Social Welfare and has taught at Haskell Indian Nations University. Her professional activities include panel discussions on racial justice and Indigenous social work education at national conferences.
