Dr. Laura Quiros is an Associate Professor in the Department of Social Work and Child Advocacy at Montclair State University, part of the College of Humanities and Social Sciences. She holds a PhD in Social Welfare from CUNY, a Master’s in Social Work from Hunter College, and a BA in Psychology from Skidmore College. Her research focuses on trauma-informed practices through a social justice lens, racial identity among women of color, and the socialization of Latinas.
Dr. Quiros received the Adelphi University 2021 Excellence in Teaching SJEDI Award for her commitment to integrating social justice principles into education. She has contributed to anti-oppression initiatives in Montclair, NJ, and is a founding board member of the Prospanica Social Justice Center. Her book, Reimagining Trauma Informed Spaces of Liberation, explores transformative approaches in social work. Dr. Quiros also consults on trauma-informed leadership and has collaborated on projects like Patrice: The Movie, which addresses complex emotional experiences through a supportive framework.
