Laura Obeng

Laura Obeng serves as a Senior Lecturer in Sports Therapy and Rehabilitation at Canterbury Christ Church University (CCCU), having joined the institution in February 2021 during the final pandemic lockdown period. Based in the School of Sciences, Psychology, Arts and Humanities, Computing, Engineering and Sports, she focuses on teaching and mentoring undergraduate students to develop professional competence in sports rehabilitation.

Education:

• Currently completing part-time PhD at Loughborough University investigating muscle latencies in chronic ankle instability

Her research centers on biomechanical aspects of sports injuries, particularly neuromuscular response patterns in chronic ankle instability. This work bridges sports therapy and rehabilitation science, aiming to refine clinical protocols through evidence-based analysis of muscle activation timing in injured populations.

Professional engagement includes curriculum development for undergraduate sports therapy programs and hands-on student mentorship, emphasizing practical rehabilitation techniques grounded in current research.
