Laura Navone

Dr Laura Navone is a Visiting Research Fellow at Queensland University of Technology (QUT), affiliated with the Biorefining Research Facility (BRF) and the Centre for Agriculture and the Bioeconomy. She holds a PhD in Biological Sciences from the National University of Rosario (UNR), Argentina, and completed postdoctoral research at the Australian Institute for Bioengineering and Nanotechnology (AIBN) at the University of Queensland. Her research focuses on synthetic biology, industrial biotechnology, and metabolic engineering, with applications in enzyme technologies, textile recycling, and biosensor development. She currently serves as R&D Director at Eden Brew, leading projects in precision-fermented dairy ingredients.

Her research interests span recombinant protein secretion pathways, microbial strain engineering, and industrial waste valorization. Notable projects include developing biosensors for protein production in Pichia pastoris and engineering textiles to capture viral particles. She has collaborated with industries like The DOW Chemical Company and Meat & Livestock Australia (MLA), addressing challenges in agriculture and biotechnology.

Laura is a member of Synthetic Biology Australasia (SBA) and participated in Homeward Bound HB6 for women in STEM leadership. Her work bridges academic research with industrial applications, emphasizing sustainability and innovative biomanufacturing solutions.
