Laura Morosanu

Laura Morosanu is a Senior Lecturer in Sociology at the University of Sussex and a member of the Sussex Centre for Migration Research. She serves as co-editor of the Journal of Ethnic and Migration Studies and coordinates two research networks: the Ethnicity, Race and Diverse Societies Network at Sussex and the Gender and Sexuality in Migration Research Standing Committee (GenSeM) within IMISCOE.

Her research primarily focuses on migrants' experiences of integration and transnationalism, particularly how these are shaped by ethnicity and other categories of "difference". She has examined these questions in the context of intra-European migration, including youth mobility patterns and the dynamics of return migration among Romanian migrants across Germany, Italy, Spain, and the United Kingdom.

Laura has been involved in several major research projects as a co-investigator, including the European Horizon 2020 projects YMOBILITY (2015-2018) on youth mobility in Europe, MIRNet (2019-2023) on migration and integration research excellence, and TRAFIG (2019-2022) on transnational displacement figurations. Currently, she collaborates with Monica Serban to analyze returnee experiences and remigration reflections using YMOBILITY interview data.

She actively contributes to migration scholarship through her editorial role at the Journal of Ethnic and Migration Studies and leadership in coordinating the Ethnicity, Race and Diverse Societies Network at Sussex University alongside the GenSeM committee within the IMISCOE international migration research association.
