Laura Lambert

Laura Lambert is a researcher at the Department of Integration, Social Networks and Cultural Lifestyles within the Berlin Institute for Empirical Integration and Migration Research (BIM), affiliated with Humboldt University of Berlin. Her work focuses on bureaucracy, refugee protection, migration control, infrastructure, and freedom of movement.

Her research examines the EU's externalization of refugee protection through the lens of everyday implementation in Niger, including 13 months of fieldwork (2018-2019). Other projects explore refugee access to higher education, logistics, migrant protests, and welcoming culture.

Her publications span asylum policy in Niger, refugee social work, migration fatalities, and urban refugee movements. She co-coordinates the West Africa working group at migration-control.info and has contributed to interdisciplinary studies on migration governance, logistics, and symbolic power in refugee integration.
