Laura Jacox

Laura Jacox, DMD, PhD, MSc is an Assistant Professor at the UNC Adams School of Dentistry. She holds dual bachelor's degrees from MIT in Biology and Earth, Atmosphere and Planetary Sciences, a DMD from Harvard School of Dental Medicine, a PhD from Harvard Graduate School of Arts and Sciences, and an MSc in Orthodontics from UNC Adams School of Dentistry.

• Investigates social science research in dentistry
• Studied antiseptic mouthrinses for limiting salivary viral infectivity during the COVID-19 pandemic
• Explores animal-assisted therapy for pediatric dental anxiety management

Her lab has received external funding from the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, the American Association of Orthodontists Foundation, and the National Institutes of Health. Dr. Jacox actively mentors students at multiple levels and collaborates with experts in linguistics and speech pathology.
