Laura Harvey

Laura Harvey is a Lecturer (Assistant Professor) in Economics at Loughborough Business School, Loughborough University. Her research focuses on economic inequality, social mobility, and education policy, with expertise in labour economics and applied econometrics. She joined Loughborough in September 2023 and previously taught at the University of East Anglia. Dr. Harvey is passionate about widening participation in economics and promoting diversity in academia.

Her research interests include the interrelationship between poverty, inequality, and economic growth, as well as education policy. She actively participates in initiatives like the Discrimination & Diversity Workshop, emphasizing interdisciplinary collaboration and policy impact.

Recent work highlights include analyzing contextual offers in higher education admissions, long-term wage stagnation in the U.S., and gender representation in economics (WinECO). Her contributions span education outreach, labour market dynamics, and social mobility, reflecting a commitment to addressing systemic inequalities.
