Laura Hart McKinny is a full professor and founding faculty member at the University of North Carolina School of the Arts, School of Filmmaking, where she has taught screenwriting for over 20 years. She holds an MFA from Queens University of Charlotte and a BA from the University of California, Los Angeles.
Professionally, she runs Stone’s Throw Films, Inc., with her son. Her creative focus spans film production, screenwriting, documentary filmmaking, and literary adaptations. Key works include producing the feature film Susie’s Hope, co-producing documentaries like In Broad Daylight and Remembering Frederic: Life of a Genius, adapting John Ehle’s novel The Land Breakers, and authoring the book Men Against Women (2015).
