Dr Laura Fox is a Lecturer in Psychology in Education at the Department of Education, University of York. Her work focuses on neurodivergent children and young people, particularly exploring their friendship development and mental health through qualitative and inclusive research methods.

Research Interests: Laura’s research centers on the intersection of special educational needs and disabilities (SEND), qualitative methodologies, and participatory approaches. She advocates for creative, accessible methods to include non-speaking children and those with additional needs in co-creating knowledge. Her work examines disparities between children’s and adults’ perspectives on support systems.
Projects: She leads the ESRC-funded project "ESRC IAA: Supporting the development of an Autism and ADHD Strategy" (2025) and co-investigates "Nothing About Us Without Us," focusing on inclusive data infrastructure. She previously contributed to studies on prosocial behavior in children with developmental language disorders (2019-2022).
Collaborations & Activities: Laura actively participates in conferences like the BPS Qualitative Methods in Psychology Section and co-hosts webinars on neurodivergent children’s well-being. She emphasizes outreach to schools and community groups.
