Laura Dodds

Laura Dodds is a Lecturer in Social Work within the School of Law and Society at the University of the Sunshine Coast (UniSC), Queensland, Australia. She holds a Bachelor of Social Science (Human Services) from QUT (2003) and a Master of Social Work (2011), also from QUT. Her career spans statutory child protection roles, management in rural/remote areas—including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community work in Far North Queensland—and expertise as a Single Expert Child Witness in Family Law Courts.

Her research and practice focus on children’s human rights, forensic social work, and critical social work methodologies. She has presented on childhood trauma, family violence, and developmental issues in Southeast Queensland forums.

Teaching areas include introductory social work, organizational practice, case management, and Indigenous Australian contexts. She is a member of the Australian Association of Social Workers and the Family Law Practitioners Association.
