Dr. Laura Diddle is a Professor of Music and Director of Choral Activities at South Dakota State University (SDSU). She conducts the Concert Choir, Madrigal Singers, and Choralia (Women’s Choir), and teaches applied voice and vocal music education courses. Since joining SDSU in 2003, she was promoted to Director of Choral Activities in 2012. Her ensembles, including the 70-voice Concert Choir and 120-voice Choralia, have toured regionally and internationally, such as Moscow and St. Petersburg, Russia. Dr. Diddle’s research focuses on repertoire selection practices, curriculum development, and early childhood music education. She also serves as a guest conductor, adjudicator, and clinician across the U.S. and co-conducted the Midwest Ambassador’s Tour to Western Europe (2007–2019).
Her students excel in competitions and pursue graduate studies at top institutions like Indiana University and the University of Michigan. Dr. Diddle’s academic responsibilities include directing choral activities and teaching elementary music education. She is based at the Oscar Larson Performing Arts Center in Brookings, SD.
