About
Dr. Laura Denby is a Research Fellow at the Centre for Cardiovascular Science, University of Edinburgh, affiliated with the Hypertension & Renal Theme (HART). Her research focuses on non-coding RNA regulation in kidney and cardiovascular injury/repair processes, with a particular emphasis on miRNAs like miR-214, miR-21, and miR-29 family members in renal fibrosis and clinical translation.
- ESAT Fellow
- Specializes in miRNA biomarkers for chronic kidney disease (CKD) and IgA nephropathy
- Investigates treatment-responsive modifiable biomarkers for accelerated therapeutic testing
Her group has identified miRNA signatures linked to disease severity and progression in CKD, aiming to develop non-invasive diagnostic tools. Current projects explore pharmacological blockade of pathogenic miRNAs to prevent fibrosis.
