Laura DE GIORGI

Laura DE GIORGI is a Full Professor and Director of the Department of Asian and North African Studies at Ca' Foscari University of Venice. She holds roles in the Senatorial commission for institutional relations with non-European countries and the Academic Senate. Her research focuses on East and Southeast Asian history, with a particular emphasis on modern Chinese history, cultural propaganda, and Sino-European relations. She has authored and co-authored numerous books and articles, including works on Chinese youth in socialist contexts, revolutionary narratives, and the intersection of globalization and urban diversity in Shanghai. Her teaching includes courses such as 'La Cina e il Mondo: prospettive storiche e contemporanee' and 'Storia della Cina Contemporanea.'

Her research interests span topics like Cold War stereotypes, media diplomacy, and the historical role of communication technologies in China. Notable publications include analyses of 1950s Italian perceptions of Communist China and studies on the Xinhai Revolution.
