Laura Cuervo Calvo

Laura Cuervo Calvo is an Associate Professor in the Department of Language, Arts, and Physical Education at the Faculty of Education, Complutense University of Madrid (UCM). A permanent civil servant in the Secondary Education Teaching Corps specializing in Music, she holds a PhD in Musicology from UCM and qualifications in German pedagogy and piano performance from institutions like the Vienna Conservatory. Her expertise lies in Service-Learning methodologies, musical stimulation, and music education across educational levels.

Her research focuses on integrating Service-Learning into music education and exploring its impact on student development. She coordinates the Internship Program for Primary Education Teaching and contributes to the Complutense Research Group on Spanish Music of the 19th and 20th Centuries. She has led international projects like the UNAEUROPA Service-Learning network initiative and participated in R&D projects analyzing socio-community music programs and historical music practices.

Prof. Cuervo has authored books and articles on music education, including Introducción a la estimulación musical en la infancia, and published in journals like Music Education Research and Quality & Quantity. She actively promotes digital competence in teacher training through initiatives like ApS para favorecer la inclusión mediante juegos musicales and has designed innovative learning programs addressing gender equity in technology use.

Her awards include an Austrian Government scholarship for studies in Vienna. She is an editorial board member of the Complutense Electronic Journal of Research in Music Education and consistently bridges research with pedagogical practice through interdisciplinary approaches.
