About
Laura Cram is Professor of Neuropolitics at the University of Edinburgh and Director of NRLabs Neuropolitics Research, pioneering experimental approaches to political behavior. Her lab combines fMRI, biometric measurements, and computational analysis to examine identity formation and information processing in multi-level governance contexts.
She leads major projects on climate communication, digital disinformation, and institutional trust, funded by ESRC, EPSRC, and Volkswagen Foundation. Her work bridges political science, neuroscience, and data science methodologies.
Cram's research explores:
- Neural mechanisms of political identity and trust
- EU communication strategies on social media
- Behavioral impacts of climate change narratives
- Evolution of disinformation tactics
Her publications demonstrate consistent innovation in cross-disciplinary methods, with recent focus on neural correlates of political cognition and computational analysis of institutional messaging. Research datasets include extensive Brexit-related Twitter archives and experimental neuroimaging data.
Cram contributes to public discourse through media commentary on disinformation and Russian troll operations.
