Laura Burch is an Associate Professor of French and Francophone Studies at the College of Wooster. She holds a B.A. from Saint Louis University (1998), M.A. and Ph.D. from the University of Minnesota (2001, 2007). Her research focuses on Early Modern French literature, women's intellectual history, and material culture. She teaches courses on French language, culture, and topics like Haitian history and 17th-century French society.
Her work examines themes such as mixed-gender friendship, feminist philosophy, and book history. Notable publications analyze writings by Madeleine de Scudéry, Denis Diderot, and Françoise de Graffigny. Awards include the Chateaubriand Fellowship (2004-2005) and Edouard Morot-Sir Fellowship (2010).
